I liken my experience in the Greatest Gig to a roller coaster, the nerves, adrenaline, excitement, the feeling that you might vomit… but you realise you CAN keep the poutine in your stomach. Radio has been something I’ve always wanted to do, would love to do, but have been unable to break into, and to not have to move to Woop Woop to work in a little station no one has heard of…I am just so thankful to have the opportunity to be involved in such an amazing competition, to have a dream potentially become a reality…Mind. Officially. Blown!

From the bottom of my heart I have to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported me so far… It’s still a bit surreal to think I’ve made it to the Top 3 out of 160 applications and to those who have helped me get here I am so truly grateful!
It is so exciting every time I come to the Jump studios and I pinch myself every morning I’m here. Is this a dream? Am I really here? Then Tony does a Yoda impression and I realize yes…I’ve been awake since 3am! But now I don’t want it any other way!
We’ve had many tasks to complete during our time with Jump… From interviewing people on the streets about the beautiful weather, stuffing my face at the Ottawa Poutine Fest, taking photos at many different landmarks in Ottawa and nearly getting arrested, going on selfie quests, supporting the Sens and making numerous YouTube videos… I have to say my favorite task was impersonating Tony Stark:
I think he’s forgiven me 😉
JUMP’s Greatest Gig has been an amazing adventure that I don’t want to end… I want to do this forever! Thank you so much to everyone at Jump for being so welcoming and especially to Tony Stark for being such an awesome mentor! I’m so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with you and see you in action, thank you!
Jaya Henderson Live With Tony Monday, May 4
Show #1: Friday, April 24
Waking up knowing I was heading to the Jump 106.9 Studios to co-host with Tony Start this morning was a crazy feeling… a mixture of adrenaline and nerves running through my veins but so much excitement and numerous nervous pee breaks!
Today has gone so fast, an absolute blur! Waking up at stupid O’Clock wasn’t an issue but not getting a lot of sleep because my boyfriend was snoring… not so great ha! Maybe I will take up drinking coffee!
I must have looked a bit like a deer looking into headlights when I first sat down, getting your head around everything when you are still so in awe of what’s going on around you is overwhelming but I took it all in with a big smile on my face… Just like Sponge Bob Square Pants!
This whole experience has been surreal, from sending in a 90 second video a few weeks ago to now being in the Top 10… Waiting to hear if Top 5 is now on the cards… Eek!
Sitting in the studio writing this and looking across at Tony’s face… I mean come on… look at that face! I’ve decided I don’t want to leave… I’m off in search for some chains to tie myself to the chair! Haha!
Big thanks to Tony for taking such good care of me, it’s a scary thing to head into the unknown and you are such a great mentor!
And thank you to the Jump team for giving me this incredible opportunity, you are all amazing and I would love to be a part of the Jump/Corus Family!! Fingers Crossed! 🙂
