As stately and unifying as President Trump was on Monday after the massacre in Las Vegas, he kind of reverted back to his usual, unscripted shtick in Puerto Rico yesterday.
First he joked (if it WAS a joke) about Puerto Rico being a FINANCIAL BURDEN. He said, quote, “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack.
“Because we’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico. And that’s fine we’ve saved a lot of lives.”
Then he continued to brag about saving those lives. He pointed out that way more people died in Hurricane Katrina, and said, quote, “You can be very proud of all of your people, all of our people, working together.”
Then he visited a church where people impacted by the hurricane were receiving supplies and he proceeded to lob individual rolls of paper towels into the crowd like they were t-shirts at a sporting event.
Yeah, it was a pretty weird day.
