Ottawa’s extreme heat came to an end on Wednesday, but it came at a price. Wednesday’s storm that rolled through the city caused serious damage in several areas, mostly in the city’s west end.
Several trees fell, causing damage to several power lines. At one point, Hydro Ottawa reported that there were about 10,000 customers without power.
One woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by a falling tree near the Ottawa Hospital campus. An apartment building on Carling lost part of its roof. At least 2 cars in The Glebe were destroyed by falling trees.
There were multiple reports of funnel clouds, but no confirmation of any of them touching down.
