If you live in the La Belle Provence, get good use out of that Uber app, cause come October 14th, it’s done.
It was announced today by Uber that because of the new regulations put in place by the Quebec government, they are taking their ball and driving away.
Those regulations that Uber is complaining about…
- All Uber drivers would need at least 35 hours of training, same as regular taxi drivers(right now that’s at 20 hours)
- All drivers would have to go through a backround check conducted by Police, not a private security firm.
Uber pulled something similar in Austin, Texas…leaving the city, but they would eventually come back.
Right now Uber is a pilot project in Quebec, and the government said it was willing to extend that project, but Uber had to comply to the new restrictions….and Uber was like
And as you can guess..this isn’t going over well in Quebec
Mark my words: Uber Quebec will resurface as St-Uber. It will also deliver chicken.— Nora Loreto (@NoLore) September 26, 2017
And some are just thinking about their stomach lol(but I think it’s a valid question)
