Pizza is kinda like Lays… bet you can’t have just one (slice).
Well on Ottawa school is saying that two slices for their students is just too much. Convent Glen Catholic School says they will limit each student to one slice of pizza during their weekly pizza day lunches.
Their reasoning? Two slices of pizza exceeds the ministry’s limit for fat content.
“Considering the ministry’s guidelines, the school council and school administration agreed that one slice of pizza is a reasonable approach for their community.”
The provinces nutrition rules can be worked around with pizza lunches by choosing pizzas with reduced fat cheese, and whole wheat crusts. However, their rules do not dictate portion sizes, and no other Ottawa school had confirmed to CBC news that they too limit their students to one slice.
Do you remember the last time you ate only one slice of pizza? Chances are you’d be hungry soon after. One Ottawa dietitian says limiting servings can do more harm than good.
