In the wake of the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, one week ago, many protests and rallies have been planned both by right-wing supporters and counter protesters.
One particular “Free Speech Rally” being held in Boston is making news right now, after the group of right-wing demonstrators were outnumbered at least 15-1 by counter-demonstrators.
Many residents in Boston were fearful the rally would bring similar violence to what was seen in Charlottesville, but those fears were soon put to rest as nearly 15,000 united to counter-demonstrate, denouncing bigotry and racism.
The alleged official account of the Free Speech Movement tweeted an explanation regarding their stance, attempting to distance themselves from the events in Charlottesville.
According to CNN, the group continued this on Facebook, where a page for the event invited; “libertarians, conservatives, traditionalists, classical liberals, (Donald) Trump supporters or anyone else who enjoys their right to free speech” to join in today’s rally.
