I’m sure you’ve noticed the pricing for hair cuts at many hair salons includes separate price listings for men and women? Men’s are ALWAYS on the cheaper end.
An Ottawa hair salon is making news for deciding to change that. They could be the first in the city to do it too. Hair Junkie on Laurier has decided to do away with separate men’s and women’s pricing and instead charge clients based on how much work they must put into their hairstyles. “Gender-neutral” pricing is a growing trend all over the US and Canada.
Their current pricing has men’s cuts starting at $31. Women’s cuts starting at $41.
Come September that will change with a $31 charge for a barber style or pixie type cut. Then a mid to long charge at $46. There will also be a middle price option for a cut that falls in between those categories.
It’s about time! Men don’t always choose short hair styles and women don’t always have long hair, or need dramatic changes. It only makes sense!
