If you’re hunting for sales, Sears Canada might be your go-to starting this weekend.
Sadly, back in June Sears Canada announced that they had plans to cut 2,900 jobs across the country. That includes closing 59 locations.
In Ottawa/Gatineau we have 5 locations, either Home stores or full service department stores, and two of them will be closing.
Both the Hull department store and the Ottawa East Home store on Innes will be closing.
The outlet store in Cornwall and the full service store in Brockville will also close.
According to Global News, An Ontario Superior Judge approved the motion today (Tuesday), after Sears told the judge that it is “crucial” to start it’s liquidation sales at its stores on Friday, so it can “maximize” benefits for its stakeholders.
These sales will only happen at the stores that are scheduled to be shut down (Ottawa region one’s listed above).
