Canada Day is time to celebrate some great accomplishments and creations that we’ve had over the years.
Did you know that the following food items were all created in Canada?
The pizza everyone loves to argue about! The Hawaiian Pizza was actually created in the early ’60s by a man named Sotirios “Sam” Panopoulos in Chatham Ontario.
2. California Rolls
The California Roll actually originated in Vancouver! It was created by Hidekazu Tojo in the early ’70s.
3. Nanaimo Bars
Finally a food where the name matches its city of origin! The Nanaimo Bar’s beginnings are a little unclear but it can be traced back to the early ’50s on the west coast of Canada where it may have been known as the “London Fog Bar” for a brief period. Luckily this time around they weren’t afraid of their Canada roots.
