It’s official!! After over 1000 games (1, 026 to be exact) Chris Neil is no longer an Ottawa Senator.
The team and Chris decided that they would go their separate ways.
Chris hasn’t played much this season, only seeing a few games in the Sens playoff run that took them to the final four.
And at 37, with a lot of miles on those legs, they were looking to the future.
Chris was drafted 161st in 1998.
He finishes his career as a Senator with 112 goals, and 138 assists.
He also racked up 2, 522 penalty minutes.
But Neil wasn’t on the team to score goals, he was there as an enforcer and to make sure no one took advantage of his teammates on the ice. A role he was really good at.
So is Neil done playing?
Chris will try to catch on next season with another team…BUT..if that doesn’t work out, look for him to maybe score a front office job with the Sens.
Both sides say there are no hard feelings.
