FINALLY some good news for ‘Butterfly Boy’ Jonathan Pitre.
Blood tests revealed that all of the new white cells in his bloodstream are from his mother’s donated stem cells. Those cells also contain her two X chromosomes, meaning that her donated stem cells have taken root in his bone marrow and have started to produce new ones.
He’s been at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital since mid-Feb. A previous transplant around Thanksgiving last year failed, so it’s safe to say things are looking up!
