After Saturday night’s 2-1 overtime win by the Ottawa Senators over the Pittsburgh Penguins in game one of the NHL’s Eastern Conference Final, Sens fans once again poured into the streets on Sens Mile to celebrate.
These celebrations started during the second round of the playoffs, where fans would cheer in the middle of the intersection at Elgin and MacLaren Streets. When the lights changed from red to green for cars going along Elgin, fans would get out of the way for traffic to pass, then return to the middle of the intersection when the lights changed again.
Ottawa became known for having the ‘most polite’ or ‘most traffic friendly’ hockey fans when the videos of the first celebrations went viral. Just in case of any traffic issues, Ottawa Police were on hand. Let’s say that it was an easy night.
Go Sens! #ALLIN
