Let’s just say that it hasn’t been fun if you’re a Hydro One customer.
People have been outraged and with good reason, people have see their electricity bill shoot up….BIG TIME!!
Well it looks like Hydro One is trying to do some sort of damage control.
Hydro One announced that it eliminate security deposits from now on, and will return more than $12 million dollars to it’s customers.
They said it will be returned to approximately 12, 000 customers, both commercial and residential.
That means $1.7 million in security deposits will be returned to 5,600 residential customers – that works out to an average of $300 each.
Commercial customers, who have a higher security deposit because they use more will see $10.7 million back. When split, it works out to $1, 700 per business.
Hydro One says they are doing this in “fairness to all customers” and help the many that have seen their bills skyrocket since Hydro One took over.
They are also starting a new program to help residential customers with relief..some customers have fallen more that $2, 500 dollars behind in bills.
And they say they won’t disconnect anyone behind on their bills until at least June 1st….and will extend that as long as the customer is paying down what the owe.
