If you take OC Tranpso, make sure you watch out for the changes that take effect TODAY.
Numerous changes are coming into effect, from different route numbers, to different schedules, to minor route modifications and even the reduction of several routes.
If you go to Immaculata High School, St. Pius High School, or Bell High School, make sure to pay special attention to THIS posting on OC Transpo’s website, as some big changes will be effecting you!
You may also notice that there is new colour coding on the signs, and this CBC article helps decode them so you can ride like a pro. To sum it up:
• Blue circle buses will run on the highway and/or Transitway
• The orange hexagon refers to “frequent service” buses. They will run along major roads and connect to the O-Train.
• The violet oval will indicate Connexion buses, which replace Express routes. They will only run during weekday rush hours and will take passengers from residential areas to downtown (and back home at the end of the day). Remember: these routes are now the same fare as standard buses, hop on at a major station for a quicker ride! Just make sure to double check it won’t skip your stop.
• Finally, the black rectangle will show buses that provide local service within communities.
Some locals saw yesterday as a bittersweet day, saying goodbye to routes they’ve ridden (and possibly suffered through riding) since childhood. Local artist Andrew King even decided to commemorate route number 2 with t-shirts, which he handed out along the route.
