If your commute to work or class involves the Hog’s Back Bridge, you’ll have to wait a little longer to use it. Due to unforeseen circumstances and safety concerns, the bridge will remain closed until April 20th. The detours will remain in effect.
From the City of Ottawa…
The closure of Hog’s Back Bridge, which began on Wednesday, April 5 and was scheduled to end on Thursday, April 13, has been extended to Thursday, April 20, due to unforeseen maintenance issues.
The bridge will remain closed to all traffic – pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles. During this closure, travellers will not be able to use Hog’s Back Road to cross the river and canal. Detour signage will be posted.
With all of the construction-related activities underway, residents are encouraged to be flexible with commuting times, stagger work hours or use alternative means for travel. The public is asked to consider options such as transit, walking, cycling or carpooling.
