The video below is from one the passengers on flight 3411. This is the moment a passenger was forced out of his seat and dragged down the aisle this past Sunday after the flight was overbooked.
Note, some people may be disturbed by this video.
According to the airline, they randomly asked volunteers to give up their seats to make space in the cabin.
According to Global News, this statement was released by email.
“Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked. After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate,” United spokeperson Charlie Hobart said in an email statement.
The flight was overbooked on Sunday night. And United said they NEEDED four people to give up their seats so four of their employees could get to Louisville.
They offered $800, a hotel, and a flight on Monday afternoon, but no one took them up on their offer. So apparently, their policy in that case is to pick people RANDOMLY and FORCE them to give up the seats THEY PAID FOR.
Some of the people who were randomly picked wound up leaving the plane, but the 69-year-old man in the video wouldn’t go. He said he was a doctor, he needed to get home to his patients, and he couldn’t wait to fly out on Monday afternoon like they were offering.
There’s no word on the man’s condition.
