You’ll find many different pieces of equipment at Carleton University’s gym but one thing you won’t find is a scale.
A few weeks ago the university removed the weigh scales in order to promote better body images.
Bruce Marshall, the manager of wellness programs, said a measure of pounds alone “does not provide a good indication of health and, here at Athletics, we have chosen to move away from focusing solely on body weight”, in an email to the Citizen.
Of course this decision has upset many people. Some suggesting that mirrors may be the next thing to be banned.
