The Merc with a Mouth is back, and badder than ever, in the new 3 minute 41 second trailer released by Ryan Reynolds yesterday.
Johnny Novak posted it here yesterday, but just in case you haven’t seen it yet, here you go! (WARNING: NSFW)
Now, after thoroughly enjoying it, you might be noticing that a small-to-medium portion of the internet is FREAKING OUT over some seemingly tiny details. You might be wondering who would dissect a movie trailer this closely.
Well…as a part of that small-to-medium sized portion of the internet, I did.
So, here are the 5 things you may have missed in the “Deadpool 2” trailer!
1. The music when he enters the phone booth
As Deadpool heroically enters the phone booth, you might pick up some familiar music playing in the background! It is the theme from the 1978 Superman movie! (Hear the actual music around 1:22 in this video)
2. SO MANY “LOGAN” REFERENCES.
There were probably 5 “Logan” references sprinkled throughout the trailer, from Reynolds BLATANTLY referencing the character at the end, to the poster as he exits the phone booth, but my favourite is probably the banner over the movie theatre.
3. Stan Freakin’ Lee!
OK, admittedly, this isn’t really an easter egg. Lee cameos in ALL Marvel movies, I just enjoy that he was in the trailer for this one!
4. Any fellow “Firefly” fans?
This one is sweet. In the shop window, you can clearly see two large posters for TV show “Firefly” displayed, front and centre. The one season show and movie were created by other Marvel universe director Joss Whedon, and one of the stars was Morena Baccarin (aka. Vanessa, in the first installment of ‘Deadpool’).
5. A certain garage door could point towards a character cameo…
OK, I haven’t heard anyone else point this out yet, somehow. This ENTIRE trailer has several references to other Marvel characters that could show up sprinkled in, such as an obvious shout out to Nathan Summers, aka. Cable (his is the number on the phone booth). But no one is noticing the garage door in the back of the alley – and the fact it has the number 10 written aaaallllll over it.
Now, this could be almost ANYTHING. Seriously. It could be binary code. But I think…hear me out…I think it is dropping a BIG hint for another character. If you look at issue 10 of the comic book version of Deadpool, check out who is on the cover!!!!
