After discovering the passing of Carrie Fisher at the age of 60 yesterday, the internet has not held back on expressing their condolences.
Everyone from her Star Wars co-stars, her dog Gary, to the countless fans who grew up and were inspired by Princess Leia are expressing their sadness. Some companies even weighing in, much to the anger of other Twitter users.
Cinnabon getting in some hot water for this tweet, some people saying the joke is coming too soon, some calling it sexist, and some feeling a bit icky about using a celebrity death to promote the business.
Our deleted tweet was genuinely meant as a tribute, but we shouldn't have posted it. We are truly sorry.— Cinnabon (@Cinnabon) December 28, 2016
The company removed the tweet and apologized after their followers spoke up saying it was inappropriate, but now there seems to be an even BIGGER backlash of people saying it was a great tribute, and Fisher herself would have loved it.
