“Hamilton” has been the hottest show on Broadway for months now, but today they’re getting a bit of presidential heat for another reason.
Vice President – elect Mike Pence was at the show last night, and the cast didn’t shy away from eloquently telling him how they were feeling in the wake of the election.
President-Elect Donald Trump didn’t take kindly to this video, though. He took to Twitter this morning (surprised?) to voice his opinions on the cast taking a moment to address Pence.
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 19, 2016
The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 19, 2016
I feel like there are certain past presidents who would applaud the cast, and remind Trump that people voicing their opinions is not the worst thing to happen to a politician in the theatre.
UPDATE – No apology has been issued, but #BoycottHamilton is now trending on Twitter and Facebook.
