Everyone remembers Marilyn Monroe’s iconic rendition of “happy birthday” to JFK. Even if you weren’t alive when it happened, it’s just one of those perfect pop culture moments that has been relived and parodied time and time again.
The breathy version of the song is well known for not only starting the rumours of an affair between her and the president, but also for the sequined, nearly see through dress she wore.
And it just sold for 4.8 MILLION DOLLARS.
According to The Guardian, the dress was bought up by the museum chain Ripley’s Believe it or Not. It also isn’t the only thing up on the block, in a three day auction being held by Julien Auctions, we can expect to see other clothing pieces of Monroe’s, personal items, and even a stuffing recipe up for grabs.
If you somehow just came into a lot of money, or you just want to see what’s up for grabs, the auction site is right here!
