A week and a half ago, AirBNB opened a contest for the opportunity to stay in the famed Bran Castle, home of “Vlad the Impaler” and the legendary inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Admittedly, I thought it was a prank of some kind, and far from a legitimate contest. So did winner Tami Varma, she told Postmedia that while she’s not nervous about staying in the castle overnight, she and her brother Robin were nervous “…that it wasn’t real.”
Luckily, those nerves didn’t stop her from entering and ultimately winning the stay. According to AirBNB’s website, they will be taken to the castle on October 31st by horse drawn carriage, greeted by Bram Stoker’s great-grandnephew and Romanian lore historian Dacre Stoker, and then they get to explore every corner of the castle before being treated to dinner in a secret passageway, and once their bellies are full, they can go to rest in their velvet lined coffins.
