Rain, at times heavy, is expected.
A moisture laden low pressure system over southwestern Pennsylvania will move up just southeast of Lakes Erie and Ontario into Northern New York State by Friday.
This track often results in a significant rainfall event for Eastern Ontario, and this weather system is no exception.
Rain has arrived as expected and will be heavy at times tonight into Friday as the low pressure area gets closer.
Periods of rain are expected to persist through Friday night and potentially Saturday as the low pressure area reaches Northern New England or Southeastern Quebec on Saturday.
Rainfall amounts by Friday night will likely total between 40 and 80 mm. Local amounts near 100 mm are possible, especially in communities near the St. Lawrence River. More rain is quite possible on Saturday.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
