Warner Bros. must be feeling good about the upcoming “Harry Potter” spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, because it’s gone from being a trilogy to a series of FIVE movies.
So, a PENTALOGY?
J.K. ROWLING wrote the initial book, and is also writing the screenplays for the movies. And she confirmed the news at a fan event in London yesterday. There’s also a new featurette online:
The first movie comes out on November 18th, and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Ron Perlman, and Jon Voight.
Unlike the “Harry Potter” movies, which were based on seven books and 3,407 pages. “Fantastic Beasts” is being drawn from just ONE book of 128 pages.
In addition to being a spin-off, the movie is also a prequel to “Harry Potter” in a sense. It’s in the same magical universe, but takes place in a different place, New York City . . . about 70 years before Harry. It was referenced in the first book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.
