The Ontario Provincial Police are putting their foot down when it comes to panhandling near eastbound exits coming off the Queensway (Highway 417).
Ticketing the panhandlers seems to have little effect, so Police are asking drivers not to be charitable on the off-ramps due to traffic and safety concerns. New “No Panhadling” signs have been installed on eastbound off-ramps at Parkdale Avenue, Rochester Street, Bronson Avenue and St. Laurent Boulevard and will remain there for the next year.
Police are hoping those who do give change to pandhandlers will donate to shelters as an alternative. Check out more in the video below.
