Thursday is International Literacy Day and Ottawa by-law has told a Hintonburg resident to move her free Pop-Up Mini Library away from the curb of her house, because it’s close to the sidewalk, which is city property.
Pop-up mini libraries are free take-a-book, leave-a-book spots where people in the neighbourhood can grab a book to enjoy. They are popular in several Ottawa neighbourhoods. Even though this one has been running for 3 years, someone called the city to complain. However, the city councilor for the area may have a solution.
