This past weekend marked 10 years since the passing of Steve Irwin (a.k.a. The Crocodile Hunter). The Australian wildlife expert, television personality, and conservationist became a worldwide phenomenon. He was known for his crazy, risky and beautiful encounters with many of the world’s most awesome creatures, while educating the world about animals and their habitats. Irwin died in 2006 after being stung by a sting ray, which pierced his heart.
Messages and tributes were pouring in online throughout the weekend. Bindi Irwin, Steve’s daughter who is now 18 posted a picture on her Instagram feed on Sunday. It has her dad holding baby Bindi in the air, with a message saying, “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe.”
Steve’s work and legacy live on through his wife Terri and daughter Bindi, who are both award winning conversationalists.
