Warning: Get ready for the most Ottawa story ever.
On Friday afternoon local artist, cartoonist and historian Andrew King wanted to celebrate the first warm day of spring by giving out some handmade t-shirts.
What a nice gesture, right? And what could go wrong?
Within a minute he was told to leave because apparently you can’t giveaway free t-shirts on Sparks Street. It says so in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, I think.
Well unlike the Bank St ice cream fiasco, this story has a happy ending.
Hi everyone, I'd just like to say thanks for all your encouraging support recently. So glad to know you guys have my back when needed. 1/4— Andrew King (@twitandrewking) April 16, 2016
I hope we can work towards recognizing the grandeur & history that street deserves. Ottawa has strongly shown they want that. 3/4— Andrew King (@twitandrewking) April 16, 2016
In the meantime, let's just chill & enjoy the great weather we have been given in Ottawa. I assure you goods things are ahead! -Andrew 4/4— Andrew King (@twitandrewking) April 16, 2016
So hopefully this summer we may see more than 6 people on Sparks Street!
