From Elgin to Orleans, there’s an Ottawa bar for everybody. But every pub and club attracts a different kind of crowd. This guide will help you figure out where to go to grab a pint, based on your personality, and more importantly, who you’ll meet there…
Liquor Store/Green Room
The home of every 19th birthday party. If you’re college age, you’ve definitely danced on this bar more times than you’d like to admit. We all know Green Room is the only place to be on Sundays. It’s that bar where a public make-out sesh is acceptable, where you’ll meet those guys who can somehow afford bottle service every weekend.
The pride of Kanata, and all Ottawa country lovers. If shots of Honey Jack, a mechanical bull, and getting down to Luke Bryan sound like your kinda night, then a trip out to the ‘burbs is worth it. You could meet your Boots and Hearts date, or someone who just looks really good in cowboy boots.
Heart and Crown
This pub is a labyrinth. Every time I go to Heart and Crown, I swear I stumble into a new room that I’ve never seen before. Grab a burger at the front of the restaurant, move into the next room where there’s an acoustic show going on, and end the night tearing up the dance floor while throwback jams play. There’s something for everyone at H&C. Which is why you’ll dance with a Carleton student and get down with a group of moms on their night out, all in the same song.
The Clocktower Brew Pub
Hipsters, unite! If you’re into craft beers, or finely crafted beards, Clocktower is the pub for you. Chat with a cutie over a pound of wings, and compare tattoos. It’s a laid back spot, so body shots are a no-go, fyi… But tossing back some local brews is definitely encouraged.
Moscow Tea Room
Where everyone is hotter than you. For some reason, this bar attracts the most beautiful people. But don’t be intimidated by its chandeliers and extensive vodka collection. Order an extra dry martini, and try out your best Putin impression. You’ll fit right in. From Russia, with love, xx.
