Here’s the second half of my list of unique Ottawa date ideas! Steal these tips and impress your date with your insider knowledge of #ottcity
6) Gatineau Park
The ultimate outdoorsy adventure! Gatineau Park is a 15-minute drive from downtown Ottawa, but it feels like a peaceful northern getaway. You can hike, cross-country ski, and snowshoe in the park during the winter. If you’re really hardcore, the park has opened its snowshoe trails to winter mountain bikers for the first time ever!
7) Happy Hour on Elgin
For those who prefer to stay warm indoors, with even more warming beverages, take your date on your own bar hop down Elgin Street at happy hour! This downtown strip is home to a ton of unique bars and restaurants. Ditch your go-to ByWard Market pub (just this once, ok), and check out some of my Elgin Street faves – Hooleys, the Manx, El Camino or Standard. Pro tips: it’s $0.45 wing night at Hooley’s on Mondays, and the Manx does a killer boozy brunch.
8) Museum Thursdays
For history buffs on a budget, many Ottawa museums and galleries offer FREE ADMISSION on Thursday evenings. The War Museum, the National Gallery, the Nature Museum, and the History Museum are my favourite Thursday night spots. Canada’s capital is home to incredible history and culture – you can make it sexy, trust me 😉
9) Sky Zone
Ottawa’s trampoline park… Yeah it’s as cool as it sounds. Bounce around with your date during open jump, or come out to one of Sky Zone’s special programs – you can play trampoline dodgeball, jump into the Foam Zone, or enjoy a 16+ Saturday night SkyJam (without fear of landing on a small child). Seriously, this is the coolest workout ever.
10) Suzy Q
Indulge your sweet teeth while impressing your sweetheart at Ottawa’s beloved doughnut shop. It’s become a local hotspot, pumping out homemade doughnuts in flavours like blue vanilla fruit loop, maple bacon, and coconut with lime. You can even order doughnuts by the dozen – take em home for a Netflix and chill sesh.
I hope this list gives you some date-spiration! If you’re liking my Ottawa-themed articles, shoot me a message and let me know. Do you have a date idea other locals would like? Maybe I can hook you up…
